friendly gesture?

Guess what happened on Friday when Ryan started his first day of orientation at school?
He made lots of friends ...especially with this Jacob kid that is in his class.

Ryan already asked Jacob to come over to the house to play with him. Friendly gesture huh? Gosh..i dunno where he gets this idea...and so friendly.

When he got back from school..we were asking how was school and everything:

Me: So, Ryan..how's school? Did u make a lot of friends?

Ryan: 2 Jacobs...another Jacob..i like Jacob..we play playdoh..

Me: Wow, 2 Jacobs ..that's nice..

Ryan: Yea..Jacob coming to house and play with me...he said yes..

Me: Ohh? U asked Jacob to come over to your house and play?

Ryan: Yea..in 2 minutes...he is coming... (Ryan still does not know how the time works)

Me and Kit: LOL..(speaking to each other) wow..look at our son..very socialize...

Ryan: Ya...Unbelievable...


Me and Kit: LOL..hahhaha..we didn't know where and when he learn this word!

middle man

Ryan is getting cuter and smarter these days. On Tuesday, we had steamboat for dinner and while we were eating, PIL were talking about their work stuff. All of a sudden, their gentle talks spiral to arguments. PIL are like that, they cannot talk gently to each other. They sure end up with arguments.

While they were arguing, here come our little "middle man" (RYAN) trying to cool off his grandparents.

RYAN: Mou chou la, .... chou chou meh yer? mou chou la...chou dou awe sek yer ar (don't argue la, why you guys want to argue? don't argue la, u r disturbing me eating)

Kit and myself were surprise..in fact, PIL were kinda ashame as they knew they always argue with each other and they had to be stopped by a 4 year old kid.
It was funny but sweet!

Doctor Loo

Last Saturday, Kit has to send FIL's car for fixing (muffler problem). It was crappy day due to heavy rain all day. PIL did not work that day. BIL came that day because he has to send his car for fixing too.

About 6 plus in the evening, the mechanic called Kit to pick up the car from the garage. Ryan was fussing to follow his daddy. Kit gave in and let him follow. So there goes the 3 generation of LOOs in the car..

When Kit got back, he was smiling and laughing and he said I have story to tell.
Below are the conversations:

Kit: Hey Hun, u know what happened at the garage ar?

Me: What?

Kit: Ai yo..your son...very funny!

Me: How funny?

Kit: Well, as we arrived at the garage, Ryan came out from the car and went looking around the garage. Dad paid the mechanic and we were all ready to go home. I let Ryan in the car and he started to tell me this:

Ryan: Awe em chung yee kor kor uncle eh.. awe em tong hey say hi (I don't like that uncle... I will not say hi to him)

Kit: Chou meh em chung yee? (Why you don't like that uncle?)

Ryan: Hey pei hak hak, meen hak hak... yucky yucky ar (his nose black black, face black black, yucky yucky ar)

Kit: LOL... hai la..see nei me tok shue la..em tok shue chau hou chee uncle chou mechanic lor ( see, if you don't study hard, u have to be like uncle to become mechanic)

*** No offense to all mechanics, well, mechanics nowadays still have to go to school to get diploma eh..what kit meant was to show Ryan an example..just wanted him to study well or hard and be somebody...(typical chinese thinking)

Ryan: Hai meh? come duk shue dor dor, chou meh yer hou ar? (Really? Then, study a lot, become what that is good?)

Kit: Chou doctor or nurse lor...hou chee mommy..wan dor dor cheen (Become doctor or nurse like mommy...earn lots of money)

Ryan: Hai meh? Awe you chou doctor ar ( Really? I want to become doctor)



*** I laughed till my tummy ached eh..i can't believe my little brat have such thinking...
They really amaze us everyday! :)

I am alive!

I am back and alive! hahhaha.. well rested, well charged, well restored..but still tired..kekkekeek

2 weeks ago, i finished my semester 2 ..wohooo..officially...I made it! no more bio for next semester!
I can't believe i made it..i managed to go through my bio! What a blessing!

The first week of my break..i just sit around and do nothing..sleep, watch tv..and play with Ryan!
I took Ryan out..for a bus ride...he loves it! We had so much fun...last week, i think almost every day we went out for bus ride...hhhahha..crazy mommy here..
In Hamilton, we had this big long city bus...i thought i let him try it..
We have 2 kinds of city buses, one is regular one and the other is the long and big one.

When we travel to downtown, we took the regular one. HE is already excited with the regular one...

Our conversations:
Ryan: Wah...hou song...hou chor ar (wahh...it feels good...feel nice to ride)

Me: Nice leh.... happy happy mou? (Are you happy?)

Ryan: Nodding his head

Going back from downtown

ME: Yau Zhen, mommy dai nei chor big bus ha... (mommy bring u to ride big bus, okay?)

Ryan: Huh? bigggg? nee kor em big ar? *pointing at the regular bus* (huh? this one is not big? *pointing at the regular bus*)

Me: No...ni kor em big la...chin kan nei dai la...nei wooi hou chung yee ka (no..this is not big, later u will see what i mean... u will like it)

Ryan: Okay....

*BIG BUS CAME*
Ryan: Wahhhhhhh... hou big ar...hou big arr ( wah...that is big..that is big)

Me: Big leh...

Me: Har chee you chor big or small ar? (Next time, do u want to ride big or small bus?)

Ryan: Big!!

Ryan: hou fast ar (Is fast too)

* heheheh..he loves the big bus..coz is fast..we call it the Bee line no. 10!

Daddy's boy

This morning we had the following conversation due to we receive a great news yesterday night about Kit's elder bro in Msia already became a daddy! :)

Me: Yau Zhen, nei chor kor kor la... no more baby la, pak pak got baby liao ( Ryan, you are a big bro now coz uncle got baby already yesterday nite)

Ryan: No... i am baby...

Me: Yau Zhen, you baby mou? Mommy sang yat kor baby pei Yau Zhen? (Ryan, do you want a baby bro? Mommy gonna make one for you?)

Ryan: No baby..

Kit& Me: Baby hoor yee tong nei wan robot wor...(the baby can play with you..like play robot)

Ryan: hai ar? okay...i want baby... (really?...okay...i want baby)

Me: But..you have to share daddy with baby? is that okay?

Ryan: Noo...Ryan share daddy...mommy share baby..

Kit& ME: LOL

My mommy

Thursday was a great day for me and Ryan because we get to spend a lot of time together like before. I really missed those moments!

On Thursday nite, as we were all watching t.v. and Kit came and sat with me on the sofa.. and Ryan run towards Kit and push Kit away and said "this is my mommy! daddy sit overthere"

I was like aweeeeeeeeeee.... he melted my heart..such a cutie pie to say that. :)Worth that i missed my class that day..hahahahaahah

Bargaining

Ryan is really good at bargaining ..like we women bargain for cheaper price when we shop. However, Ryan's bargaining is not on the things he wants to buy.. but on the things he want us to do for him.

The following incident happened yesterday afternoon right after i picked him up from day care. Usually, after washing his hands, i will give him a bottle of milk and he will enjoy his TreeHouse programmes.

Ryan: Ar cheen leh? (where is my blanky?)

Me: Laou seong... (upstairs)

Ryan: Mommy lor la.. (Mommy take for me)

Me: Yau Zhen chee kei lor la..mommy hou kui ar.. (Yau Zhen go take your blanky yourself, Mommy is tired)

Ryan: MOmmy lor la...pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee (Mommy go take ..pleaseeeeeeeeeeee)

Me: Yau Zhen lor la pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee (Yau Zhen go take pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee)

Ryan: Giggling there

Ryan: Mommy lor la.. pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

** I was sitting on the sofa and try to settle down... and Ryan came towards me and started to beg...
He was holding his bottle and in the middle of begging..he spilled his milk..

Me : Ohh ooo....nei dai..dou ser la.. (ohh oo...u see....u spilled the milk)

Ryan: Silent....

Me: Mommy hey lor chee nei matt...Yau Zhen hei lau seong lor cheen, okie? (Mommy go take tissue to wipe the milk stain, Yau Zhen go upstairs and take your blanky, okie?)

Ryan: Ok..... *walking towards the staircase, halfway he stopped and pause for thinking... and he turned back and walk towards me and said...
NOooooooooooooooooo... mommy lor cheen , yau zhen lor chee (noooooooo, mommy go take blanky and Yau Zhen go take tissue)


Me : LOL.... i laugh because he was almost conned by me..ahahahaah ain't he smart?

heheheh cheeky little fella!

They believe what they see...

The ambition talk happens in all families ...and ours started already when Ryan started to have passion and interest in helicopters and airplanes.
We always ask him what he wants to be when he grows up? Doctor, Pilot? Engineer like daddy? hehehehe
But he never say a thing ....

Today, this morning, as we were getting ready to go to school (day care), MIL asked Ryan the same question

MIL: Nei dai kor , yue chou meh yer ar? Char fei kei ar? (What you want to be when you grow up? A pilot?)

Ryan: Em yue ar ...char jeet seng kei ..sei sei ar..teet teet lok sui..sei sei (Don't want, become pilot ..die die ar...fall fall into water..die die )

Ryan has watched this Chinese series Always Ready about China's Government Flying Service..where they have one episode, one of the helicopter got problem and the back propeller caught fire and went crash down into the ocean...
he loves that part a lot..he can repeat it everyday..in fact he requested to watch that part everyday...
so..the above conversation proves that he believe what he sees!

Isn't he smart? Oh my....we were like..gosh...unbelievable with what he said :)

So, gotta be careful about the program that our kids watch...u will never know!

"Yeen Sat" = Reality

Back to work this week and on Sunday, Kit and Ryan had the following conversation:

Kit: Teen yat, daddy fun kong la..., okay? (Tomorrow, Daddy has to go back to work, okay?)

Ryan: Moi ar.. chou meh fun kong? (Don't want...why go to work?)

Kit: Mou sai kar kei lor...yue fun kong ar...(No more holidays ..daddy has to go back to work)

Ryan: Mou fun kong la...daddy ook kei pooi chee (Don't go to work..daddy stay home accompany me)

Kit: Daddy you fun kong ar...fun kong wan cheen cheen mai neen neen ar..chu chu ar (Daddy has to go to work, go work can earn money to buy milk and thomas and friends toys for u)

Ryan: Ohhhh? Chan hai...ai yoooooo..... *pause for thinking*... come daddy fun kong la..okay? (ohhh? really? ai yoo... *pause for thinking*.... then daddy gotta go to work..okay?)

Kit and ME : LOL!!

See how smart he is getting now...geeze...getting very cheeky these days..talking like an adult...

My "calmer"

This conversation happened last Thursday morning..

I was on the phone with Kit and Kit has said something that made me mad.. My facial reaction was very obvious...and when i hang up...this happened:

Ryan: Chou meh? Daddy ar? Daddy yai yai ar? (WHy? What happened? Is it daddy? Daddy notty?)

Me: *keeping quiet* ....

Ryan: Daddy ar? Daddy yai yai ar?

Me: No.. mou yer la (no..nothing la)

Ryan: Mou sheoung kon ..mou sheong kon (Nevermind, Nevermind)
*he patted my shoulder when he said that*


Ryan always calm me down and try to make me happy again whenever i am sad or angry..
Amazing or not? My 3 year old son doing that?

I am so ashamed as in I do not know how to control my emotion at all...
BUt i am glad and thankful that God bless me this beautiful child! He is like an angel to me!

Chou Meh Yer..

Ryan's know a lot of Cantonese vocabulary already...

Below are recent conversation between Ryan and me or us..

*** Kit and I went to NoFrills (grocery store nearby our house) to get some bread and milk. As we walked home and open the side door, Ryan greeted us with his hands full of lollipops***.

Kit: Wah.. cum dor tong keh? Peen kor pei ar? (Wah..so many lollipops u got there? Who gave it to you?)

Ryan: Emm haii...tong la ( Noo...candy la) *** He loves to answer us with No..whenever we asked him questions***

Kit: Peen kor pei keh? Hai mai Mara? (Who gave it to you? Is it Mara?) **Mara - our neighbour***

Ryan: Kang hai! (Of course! )

Kit and ME : LOL... we were surprise that he said of course...ehhehehe.. because normally he sure say Yes or NO..not not of course..

This conversation happened yesterday afternoon. I was laying down on the sofa coz i was tired (had my menses, feeling lousy and exhausted). Kit looked after Ryan and they were playing and talking in the sun room.

Kit: yo ! yo! yo! What's up baby! (Talking like those punk guys- as in jokingly to Ryan)

Ryan: Laughing out loud ...

Kit repeated the YO thingy again

Ryan..Chou Meh YO! YO! YO! (Why Yo-ing?)

Kit: LOL

*** I also laughed coz they way Ryan said Why yo-ing..sounded like those typical China men not understanding the punk guys!****

Emm Lap

This verse has been Ryan's favorite verse...hehehehe
Every time after he finished pooping ..he will say

Ryan: Mommy, dai...see...emmm lap ar (Mommy, look...see...5 pieces)

ME: Hai meh? let mommy see? (Really? let mommy see?)

Ryan: Chan Hai ar....emm lap dai lap see ar! (Really ...5 big pieces of poop)

Me: LOL

ehehhehe he is funny..when he said emm lap..he show me his 5 fingers as well!

Smart and Creative

This conversation happened on last Friday...

Ryan:*carrying his red pouch at the back* Baby, fun kong ar...baby ..see kan (mou see kan)... (Baby, going to work now... Baby, don't have time now..rushing for time)

Me: Ohh! okie...see you later okie?

Ryan: Okie...*walking towards the door and open the door....

Ryan: Baby cheok hai ar...(Baby wears shoes okie)

Me: Okie..bye bye..fai fai fan ar (Okie...bye bye..quickly come home okie?)

Ryan: Okie.. Arrr....cher em ken chor...em fun kong...baby fun nei la (Okie..Arr...car disappear ...don't want to go to work...baby come back from work already)

Me: LOL!

**** Ryan is trying to say that he can't go to work because his car (Kit's car) on the driveway is gone..disappear! (because Kit is using the car)
See how imaginative he is? I laugh till i got stomachache!

Still got lots to learn...

Ryan still got lots to learn as in how to talk properly ....not only that..he still need to learn English..
This is an example of Ryan's daily conversation with us:-

Today,MIL is at home and Ryan wanted to bo bo...and i was studying..he came upstairs and told me that he has to bo bo...
after awhile and he is done..he open the washroom door..and the conversation goes like this:

Me: Orr hou mei ar? Mommy pong nei matt arr.. (Are you done bo bo yet? Mommy help you to wipe your bum bum

Ryan: Orr hou mei ar.. em sai ar..mah mah pong nei mattt (Are you done bo bo yet? no need ...grandma help you wipe bum bum)

The correct one supposed to be: Or hou la...em sai ar...mah mah pong ar matt (Done already, no need...grandma help me to wipe)

Ryan always said the nei (you) instead ngor (me) ...hehehe..when i explain to him..he got confused..hehehe

This morning, he asked me where is grandma...
Ryan: Mah mah leh? (where is grandma)
Me: Lau Seong , neem keng (upstairs room, praying)
Ryan: huh? teng em tou! (huh? didn't hear u )

The correct one is ngor em sek teng..( don't understand)
he don't understand the word praying...so he said he didn't hear me..actually he wanted me to explain what is praying...

BOy..he still got long way to go...for Cantonese..
And worst part is English...hehehehhe

But he always always understand when i ask this to him in english:

Me: Yau Zhen, U love mommy?
Ryan: Yes! (with a smile and big huggie and wet kiss )

Aweee..ain't that sweet?

Mak Sang...

Mak Sang...or Mr. Mak is PIL colleague and he always called FIL to inform whether going to work or not..coz their job sort of like depends on the weather one...
FIL fetch Mr. and Mrs. Mak to work as well.

So my dear Ryan here heard FIL talking to Mr. Mak..which FIL always called out Mak Sang arr..

As a result of the conversation..this happened:-

*** Kit got back from work and Ryan always wanna put his car keys back the keys holder and cell phone on the book rack.. for his daddy daily.
On Monday, Ryan took Kit's cell phone and pretend to have a conversation on the phone...and the conversation goes like this...

Ryan: Arrr...Mak Sang...lee kor..arrr ( Arr..Mr. Mak...this..arrrr)

Ryan: Arr..Mak Sang...em hai ar...takk takkk.. (arr..Mr. Mak..no..not like this...cann cann)

** Ryan is walking up and down the house while having this conversation...


Kit and me: LOL we laugh till tears come out...coz Ryan really surprised us with the whole Mak Sang thingy..

Meh Yer...teng em tou

Ryan has learn new word again..well, it has been weeks that he uses this word.

Every time whenever i call him to do anything, he will said this.

The following happens weeks ago:

Ryan was playing computer games upstairs..

Me: Yau Zhen, chung leong ar...yeh la..fai teet (Ryan, bath time now, quick, is getting late now)

Ryan: Meh Yer? Teng em tou ar.. (What is it? I cannot hear u )


*** I am like beside him..and he told me that he cannot hear me?

He also has learn his communication skills ...i mean improve his English words..
Whenever he sees anyone pass by our window... he will say hi..and how are you ?

Today, as he sees Berta my another neighbor sweeping her yard...Ryan said the following

Ryan: Hi Berta! HOw are you? What you doing?

I was so impressed that he can talk so much in English...coz he converse more in Cantonese.
I am trying to teach him more English now... so that when he starts school next September, he won't be left out :)

Talking on the phone

We bought Ryan a fake cell phone which it can be flipped...with digital camera thingy.
Ryan loves to imitate us talking on the phone..so every day he will pretend talking on his cell phone.

This morning, he made a 'phone call" to i dunno who...and the conversation goes like this :


Ryan: pressing the button to make a phone call...

Me: Nei call peen kor ar? (Who are u calling?)

Ryan: Shhhh! (shoosh me asking me to be quiet..and making his hand gesture to ask me to wait for him to finish his conversation)

Me: LOL! wah...nei kor peen kor ar..mommy em hor yue teng ar? (who are u calling? Why mommy cannot listen ar?)

Ryan: Talking on his phone saying...err...em hai ar...meh yer? mou ar? yum nen nen lor ( err...no ar ..what is it? nothing? drink milk lor )

Me: LOL!!

Geeze..he really talk like an adult! I really sometimes beh tahan him man!

"I Love You"

We went to Zoo on Saturday as we were leaving the Zoo, we stop by the washroom b4 we start an hour journey back home. I went to the washroom first, then followed by Kit bringing Ryan and then came out and let me carry Ryan and Kit went for his turn.
As we were waiting for Kit to come out..this happened:

Me: You had fun Ryan?

Ryan : Ya.. (nodding head as well)

Me: You happy happy?

Ryan : Ya.. (nodding head and smiling as well)

Ryan : I lovvv you.. (hugging me with a smiling face)

Me of course melted and forgot how tired i was at that moment! :)
