I am super Happy because...I am truly Blessed by my Father! He blessed me with great family and a great job.
I love my new job... something i truly like to do..and pays well at the same time.
No rocket science job but something decent to pay bills and get things rolling. :)

I no longer have to work weekends and shifts for my nursing role..but i am still doing a nursing job during week days schedules. Love it!

This weekend i am having a long weekend...just only for me..due to Remembrance day for Canada..and for all clinics..we are closed on Monday. So another bonus for me :)

Enjoying the weekend with my boys....went grocery shopping yesterday at Mississauga..and bought some of the Xmas pressies..
still got lots to buy on the list..
maybe next weekend..looking forward for Xmas!

I am sick today...sore throat, cough, stuffy nose, sneezing..hmm all symptom similar to flu..except for one..i got no fever.
I had a great time touring Elora, Fergus and St.Jacobs yesterday..and today i am sick!
Hmm...Ryan was sick last week for a week..maybe i caught some of his bug.

IS the flu season now.. govt is asking everyone to get flu shot and H1N1 flu shot as well.
yup..i am waiting for the H1N1 flu shot to arrive in my doc's office. This week they only let the higher risk person- elderly aged 65 and above, children 5 years of age and under, and 20 weeks pregnant women.

SO i am waiting for next week..for us normal citizen.
Didn't feel good at all...

Wahooooooooooooooo... i am extremely happy today and maybe tomorrow too.. this is my first weekend off and for the rest of weekend off :)
I dun have to work weekend anymore. Today we went out shopping..bought myself a winter coat London Fog original price was $129.99..but it was on sale..i save 40 bucks..i only pay 90 bucks..good one too!
I need a winter coat for work.. yippie..i am a happy camper...got what i wanted.
I bought a pair of shoe, and 2 pairs of pants for Ryan. So he is happy. Kit didn't want anything..so we went out for lunch.
Went dim sum...had a good lunch :)
Tomorrow i will go out with my galfriends to Fergus and Elora..a city that i never been. I am totally excited.

Rite now i am just spending some time to do some of Kit's law assignment. Man, it has been awhile i touch books eh... brain kinda rusty..especially when it comes to contract law..boy..the last time i took business law was 9 years ago!
Jee ..Kit really test my knowledge..that's why i am here blogging ..back to blogging!!

could not settle with one...

It has been 3 months I work at this hospital..where i did my pre-grad training. I was very lucky to land a job right after my training. I remembered the HR personnel who interviewed me one day b4 my license exam.. she asked me why I picked this day, why didn't i re-scheduled another day. I told her I don't believe in cramping..i did my studying and I am prepared..furthermore..day before..i just wanna relax..phewwwwwwwwww..when i think back..relax what? hahahah..was so stressful for me.
Anyhoo, I was so confident during the interview... and i told them..if u hired me..i gave you 200 percent of performance..i love my job..i love my patient...

And guess..after i got the job..i hate it! what a liar huh..hmmm actually..If they offer me a full time line in Behavioural..YESSS i gave them 200%..maybe more than that..that's my passion.. working with behavioural ppl.. but they gave me a relief position..going everywhere in the hospital.
See, i am not the "nursy" type of nurse..like i want to try everything..get every skills in the world that i can..NO..i am not like that..I just wanna concentrate on what I like and what i do best..which is psychiatry.
So, for the past months..i am crying inside... whenever they send me to palliative, or complex or rehab..I just could not see myself doing it. However, i still try my very best to deliver my care for my patients..
Not that i am boasting, all my patients loves me.. every time they rang the call bell..they wish it was me to answer their call for help..they even said it themselves!
That's something nice i got back from doing the work for my patients..a sense of appreciation.
Ever since i started the hospital job as a relief nurse..not a single day go by that i did not look for a job... i browse the net daily looking for a better position.
My back hurts every time i came back from work...i didn't get to spend time with my family during weekends....so i told myself..as much as i love this nursing job..it has to be something..
I pray night and day..for God's mercy and blessing...waiting for my breakthrough...waiting for His PERFECT plan for me... No fail i pray and search for job..applied tons of jobs for the last 3 months.

On the 16th of October..I got an offer from a biggest cancer centre in ontario, a position of RPN, doing an office job, no weekends, no shifts jobs, 9 to 5 hours, and doing what i used to love to do..which is administrative, management plus nursing knowledge. I was awe by GOD's love for me and my family!!
HE is so merciful and loving! I cried that day...coz i could feel the pouring love from HIM!!!
I was so blessed!! In Nursing, u can only imagine for that kind of job...but it really happened for me for real!
Praise Lord for his miraculous job..nothing is impossible for HIM! He is always there for His children..
I am starting a new job this Nov 2nd ..as a RPN referring new patient who just got diagnosed with cancer to the right cancer specialist.
unbelievable awesome job that i could ask for!

I have been working as RPN for 2 months... and the feeling being a nurse is nerve wrecking for me. I am working as a part time Permanent Relief RPN in the hospital. Staffing owns me..they send me everywhere when i am needed to cover the regular nurses on the unit to book off.

The hospital i work at has 8 different units- Behavioural units (3 units) Palliative (2 units) Complex Care (2 units) and Rehab unit. Every unit has their very own routine of doing things... and each shift of each unit again has their very own routine.
Certain units , the regular nurses do not like we relief nurses..due to they are afraid we cannot perform to their standards due to we are relief.

As a new graduate and new hired...it is very overwhelming for me every single time i am send to different floor to work. Every day going to work is a suspense ..not knowing where u r going..and how are your patients like. Furthermore...nurses there..not all are friendly to help you.

I am desperate to apply for a permanent line in one unit..where i can find my routine..and get to know my patients and plan my care for them. I really wish i can get a line in Behavioural units...that's my passion..working with ppl with mentally challenge behaviour.

getting too much rest

It has been only 2 weeks after my exam..and i already getting bored of staying home doing nothing.
No doubt i enjoyed the first week of doing nothing..mainly just watch tv ..cooking, and mending the house chores..but i am getting restless here.
So not used to it.
I miss my books... and i did visit my school library and borrowed some nursing books to refresh my skills..kekeke

At first the librarian..won't let me borrow it coz i am done school..and i don't have my alumni sticker on my id card..but i knew the librarian very well... she kinda teasing me..what u need those books for..
i told her..that i need to kill time while waiting for the job orientation and results. Furthermore i am worried that my skills got rusty...and soon got to start working..better sharpen my skills and get myself ready :)
Well, long story short.. i am just plain OCD obsessive compulsive disoder..hehehe

Practical Nurse

Yup..finished the long and brutal 2 years of Practical Nursing course.. Wrote the license examm last wednesday ..waiting to be registered!
Got a job interview last week too (a day b4 the exam) ..got a call from them on Tuesday..I got offered a job in the hospital. This hospital is located within 5 mins drive from house..how convenient is that.
Is an 8 hours shift hospital..as compared to other hospital..which all nurses have to work 12 hours shift.
I am blessed with that good news.. rite now I am praying that I pass that exam and get my license.

Lotsa effort and hardwork for the past 2 years..and not to mention lotsa sacrifices i made to provide my family a better environment.
I am very blessed with all my family supports while i was doing this course.

Praise Him for the love, strength and blessings..AMEN!

my baby has grown up

This morning I send Ryan to day care...it was drizzling but Ryan has his very own Spiderman umbrella and i have my very own cheap umbrella from dollarama.
He no longer need mummy holding hands for security..he can walk by himself without fear..and when crossing roads he knows how to look left, right and left again..before crossing..without me prompting him to do that.

When we reach the daycare centre..he walked in by himself..and say goodbye to me ..without the need of me following him into the centre.
Oh boy..at that time..it just hit me that he had grown so much... i still remember the first day i sent ryan to day care...he cried and cried..holding my hands not wanting to let go..
My boy has grown so much..and fast..
I am so proud of him..

I guess..by another few years..he will have his own friends to play with..and don't need this old mommy to tag along.
Time really fly fast...he is 5 ++ years old..going to be 6.
Meaning this old mummy is getting old too ..hehehe

Wow..it has been awhile i have not blog. I am just busy and lazy lately. I am doing my pre-graduation training...meaning working full time for free.. till April 30th. Is a mixture of day shifts and evening shifts...but mostly day shift.
I am working at this Behavioural Unit in one of Hamilton small hospital. I love this place..and my preceptor (the nurse who trained me) is an amazing preceptor. She is a total doll!
She taught me alot and i have learned alot.
My patients are mostly alzheimers & dementia..but they are some with schizophrenias and bipolar.
There is this patient, N.R., she suffered from alzheimers and bipolars...she can talk..but it does not make sense..every time when i am giving her care..she will said "leave me alone... u asshole" or "leave me alone ...u son of a bitch.." but i did not take it personally..coz i know they are sick...
Daily i care for them without fail...i like to go to work..and i like to care for them..
I dunno why...i find that..with psychiatry patients..they are interesting and challenging.
Giving them meds is another challenge..the nurses there have to be creative...
and our critical thinking box is on 100% all the time..when we are at shifts.

However, some nurses dislike that unit..they said is like babysitting...pschiatry patients are not patients at all..or pschiatry nursing..is not nursing.
I totally disagree...coz brain is part of the human body and organ..it will fail too..and it is the most complex organ in the body.

I personally love psychiatry... coz..to me..is a big satisfaction when i care for them...it gives me the opportunity to assess their brain..their behaviour..and this task is not easy.
is not like biology knowledge we learn with other parts of the body..
coz brain..is hard to understand.

My ambition is to further career in psychiatry nursing.. hope that will happen :)

surgical floor again

I am back to surgical floor again for my final semester 4 rotation. Yup..the floor where i had the patient fractured her arm while i was giving her sponge bath.
I survived the first 2 days so far.. It went awesome..better that i expected.. THANK GOD! HE blessed me with a good nurse and good patients. I had one with post op day 1 he was walking around already.. he had total right knee replacement. He didn't even use the PCA pump for the morphine at all..what tough guy here..and today it was post op day 2 for him..and he already got discharged!!!
Awesome. I did his dressings and he is pretty much independent! so..pretty nice for me..coz i dun have to do the personal care.

Left 6 more days for my clinincal...then.. i will be doing my Pre-grad rotation at St. Peter... I got what i wanted..doing Psychiatry plus medicine! DOUBLE BONUS.
I am a happy camper here... no complains..GOD is GREAT!

5 years old

Ryan is turning 5 years old this coming 25th January! BOy, time really flies... i cannot believe it. I remember i was holding him in my arms in the hospital the day he came to this world.
Now he can reason with me..and do listen to me..He is a very good boy overall. At times, being a boy..he do have some cheeky and naughty behaviour..but..he is a fine boy. I am very lucky and Blessed!

Everyone been asking me..when i am going to have second one...well, here is my answer..NO.
I know i cannot afford another one..and at the same time..i don't know how to raise 2 children..and i don't think i can pour out as much love to my second child like i did to Ryan.
Can i? Furthermore, financially..we couldn't afford it. I am half way through my studies..and starting my career soon..can i stop and do everything again?
I know i am selfish..once my friend said..money is not the problem..but to me it is..
i don't want my child suffer because of his or her parents cannot provide a better, and comfortable environment to live in.

And by the time i have money...my biological clock already passed the healthy level to have children..
so how ?
Is hard to answer the question of me having the second one..i truly dunno how to answer that question.

Wow..it's been awhile i have not updated my blog eh...and it is brand new year already. I am alrite...thank you for everyone concerns..i am okay..is just that i was having a very tough time during october-dec 2008. That's why i don't have time to do anything...all i did was school...study...and sleep.

Ever since, i finished my psychiatry rotation... I was struggling dealing with active medication rotation for 7 weeks.
In addition, Ryan was sick...had a lung infection and caused him another febrile seizure. As he was having the seizure..i was rushing downstairs to attend to him..i missed 2 steps and sprained my left ankle. My left ankle went inwards and cracked. Thank God i didn't fractured it..but i suffered a lot. Till now,my ankle still hurts..if i stand too long.
Anyway, we rushed Ryan to emergency that nite...he was okay...THANK GOD!
as for me..I was not okay...i missed 2 days of clinical due to my ankle..and my teacher gave me hell time...
it was a mind torture for me that time... and to top with everything...i failed one of clinical theory test.
Gosh... i was really stress out through out the whole 7 weeks.
I worked my butt off for this rotation...was at the college at 7 am till 9.30pm. I missed seeing Ryan during weekdays.
God is great....I appealled for a re-write... it was mind boggling..cause my teacher was not very encouraging and supportive type of person...she played tough..
She told me.. "U have to prove to me that u deserve another chance for the re-write.." the re-write appeal..has to be signed by her..if not i won't get a chance at all.
I have nothing to be afraid off..coz all this while..i have great marks in my academic records.
I worked hard all the time..I have lotsa friends supports me..
Thank God for that!
But still..i am human being...so i cannot allow any minor mistake..i make sure i scored other subjects and showed her i DO REALLY DESERVE another chance...
I made it... i passed the re-write.. AMEN! PRAISE HIM!
dec 15th was my last day of semester 3...it was hell break loose for me...but i am still recovering eh...mentally!
I had my good breaks..

I played with Ryan everyday..during the vacation....i had soo much fun with him... i really do missed him a lot! and WE had soo much fun! hehehehe
I am still on my break.. but tomorrow will be my my final 4th semester orientation.
I will have first 7 weeks of active meds rotation..then the next 7 weeks will be my pre-graduation rotation..where i have to work alone like a nurse...with a preceptor another RPN( registered practical nurse)
tomorrow i will know where i will be getting my pre-grad location..it will be a lottery!
I am nervous..i can be landed anywhere...nursing homes, hospitals..or community!

I am really hoping to get pscyhiatry ..but on the other hand..i don't wanna loose my medical skills
I found one site...where i can practice both...they call behaviour assessment unit..where patients are diagnosed with chronic psychiatry disorders..as well as with physically illness..
i'll get to do some IV care, wound care, behavioural assessment!
wohooo..this is great bonus for me!
I really wish i get this one..but there will be 80 of us.. and it will be a lottery style..so is hard to tell!

what's new

Nothing is new... i am here still awake at 11.10 pm..while waiting for my hair to get dry and trying to settle down from almost 12 hours of studying.

I have test tomorrow...and i am still not yet ready...my brain is not functioning today.
I miss spending time with Ryan.. i miss reading with him...trying to write with him..i miss those time a lot.
But i have no choice... Kit is there to help me to do that..but still is different..
I personally want to spend time with Ryan.

Ryan is doing alright in school...love it very much! We got him a new hobby lately...which is swimming..SIL is taking Ryan to swim during the weekends...and they are going again this coming weekend.
I wish i can join..but ai yo..me overloaded with my school work..
plus exam exam..almost everyday and everyweek.
I am swammped!
Counting my days till first week of December..then i will be done with semester 3!
Looking forward!
Next april..i will be done! wohoooooooooooo!

first conversation

This week i officially working as a psych nurse (in training)..boy..i tell ya..is not as easy as i thought.
Well for sure we don't have to rush a lot as compared to medical unit except for morning 8 am meds.
But we do a lot of observation, brain-storming to guess our client's pyschosis behaviour.
Yesterday was a buddy-up with a staff nurse day..and i was having a great time. Learned a lot from her. Managed to spend time with one of this client...diagnosed with manic bipolar disorder. Poor man...he seems all right and very pleasant..due to he has been taking his psychotic medication to control the pyschosis symptoms.

He is telling me that he has a date and job interviews. These people are normal human beings..who wanted to be normal like anybody else..just that..they have no choice to get this sickness..and they are all in need of help.
Too bad..our society shunned them.... and isolate them.

Today i get to work alone by having one patient of my own. Doing meds and interviews for the first time..boy..i was nervous...
this client of mine...her diagnosis was schizoaffective disorder...her symptoms are not enought to diagnosed as schizophrenia..but she only a few of schizophrenia symptoms such as delusions, hallucinations..and disorganized thoughts.

She denied she has sickness..and believe everyone is. Having thoughts someone has broken into her house ..tampered with her stuff and food in the fridge.
FBI and terrorist ppl calling her and wanted her to open up a meat business..
very interesting lady...
Last week, when i was reading the text about delusions...i cannot have a sense of it..but today..i really do!
My patient's thoughts are very disorganised!

I find it psychiatry field is challenging..not only u need the med nursing skills...u need to have the "brainy" skills to deal with ur patients.
It is very rewarding to see patients getting better and discharged and go out to community and getting a job.
The feeling is hard to explain..just feeling great!

This week is pretty tough for everyone of us due to Kit is adjusting himself at his new job in Mississauga...he seems overwhelm due to different technology and systems he has to learn.
Ryan is officially starting school...he seems alright and happy about it. However, my concern is his health..due to he has to wake up early ...only having a bottle of milk..and then ..kit has to send him to day care at 7 am. Usually the day care will provide breakfast..but my mind will not at peace without actually seeing with my own eyes that my baby is eating...there is a certain percentage that Ryan is not eating..depending on what they are serving.
If i feed him from home..it will be too early...i already having troubles..asking him to drink his milk.
His school starts at 9 am till 3.30 pm.....we send him to day care at 7 am..so basically he is having a full day like us!
I really feel sorrie for Ryan..but we have no choice.
Monday went well for him...i picked him up straight from day care right after my class finished at 3 pm...
Gosh..it was hectic for me..due to..monday i have 8 am class...till 3 pm..then rush to his day care...pick him up..come back...give him milk first...then start cooking ..
it was boom.. boomm...boom...and i still need to work on my studies after i settle everything.
BOy..i am exhausted..even now.. still am...today Ryan is off from school..coz his schedule is alternate schooling days.
Therefore..i stayed at the library till about 6 this evening..to finish off my studying and homework.
My brain is shutting down now... i want to sleep..but too much stuff to do..

My assignments and exams are coming soon..every one of them are piling up...just waiting for me...
back to old schedules..man..i am so lazy after the break..it is hard for me to switch back.
Is like running old systems now eh...so slow...brain not functioning..hehehe

I hope next week will be better...really hoping!

Clinical tomorrow...

I am very excited now..coz i am going to visit Hamilton Center of Mental Health.. With the stories told by my intructor about schizophrenia clients overthere..i really want to experience myself tomorrow.
It will be very interesting to see with my own eyes.

I hope i really have a great time touring the place tomorrow and officially starts next thursday.

Assertiveness

On Wednesday, we learned assertiveness behaviour in our professional development class. Coming from Asian background...we are trainned to be passive and submissive to everyone who is in authority.

Now, how to say NO to your boss or senior colleague or even your Mother IN Law? hehehe... i find that class very meaningful especially for me because i can see me being submissive and passive when i start my nursing career.

I had a great experience ..such as conflict with MIL ...my mother in law's background is she perceive that she is always right about everything. She won't accept my ideas or ways of doing things... or confrontation or criticism.
Is hard for me..because... I really do not wish to creat wars in the family...especially Ryan is in the house.

How I wish...my MIL understands english...so that i can express and explain to her clearly.
Seriously..if she understands english or i speak mandarin..i think things will be better.

Oh well... we really have to be assertive..as in..getting our needs met but without jeopardizing the relationship with whoever u r dealing with it.

no more smurf suit

I won't be wearing my baby blue colour (smurf's suit according to my pschy instructor) scrub or uniform to clinical this rotation. How sweet! We have to wear business casual apparel.

It was funny how my instructor tell us about the dresscode when one of the student asked him..

Intructor: About the dresscode, to me..it has to be the 3 B's rules...

Students: 3 B's?

Instructor: yes..no showing of boobies, buts and belly!

hehehe..trust me..the way he said it...cracks us up good eh...

He always came up a lot of good jokes...we felt very comfortable with him...he gave us no stress..and as long as we do our work and hand in on time..
we will sail through the course! :)

tiring week...

This week has been very tiring so far for me due to my long hours spent in college. I was up at 6 am every day...and reach college at 8 am... and stayed till 5 pm. Not that my class finished that late ..is just i am trying to adjust back to my crazy schedules process.

I used to stay in the library from 8 am till 10 pm..yea..basically library is my second home :)
This week...i could not do it..i am not used to it yet..but i am pretty sure by next week or 2..i will be able to switch it back.

So far, my first rotation of my 3rd semester is pretty easy for me.. I am dealing with mental health ppl..especially schizophrenia ppl.
I'll be visiting my clinical placement this Friday..and i am very excited and anxious at the same time.

Alot of ppl does not like mental health field..but i find it interesting. My instructor is a male instructor..and he has been a psych nurse for 23 years..and we love him! He is damn funny..and very unlike the normal nurses instructor.

I really respect him for what he has achieved and for what he is doing now.
He makes me want to further my studies in psychiatry field...maybe forensic!! hehehehehe

Guess what happened on Friday when Ryan started his first day of orientation at school?
He made lots of friends ...especially with this Jacob kid that is in his class.

Ryan already asked Jacob to come over to the house to play with him. Friendly gesture huh? Gosh..i dunno where he gets this idea...and so friendly.

When he got back from school..we were asking how was school and everything:

Me: So, Ryan..how's school? Did u make a lot of friends?

Ryan: 2 Jacobs...another Jacob..i like Jacob..we play playdoh..

Me: Wow, 2 Jacobs ..that's nice..

Ryan: Yea..Jacob coming to house and play with me...he said yes..

Me: Ohh? U asked Jacob to come over to your house and play?

Ryan: Yea..in 2 minutes...he is coming... (Ryan still does not know how the time works)

Me and Kit: LOL..(speaking to each other) wow..look at our son..very socialize...

Ryan: Ya...Unbelievable...

Me and Kit: LOL..hahhaha..we didn't know where and when he learn this word!

Back to school

Tomorrow will be officially first day of class for me and it starts at wee 8 in the morning. This means i have to get up at 5.45 am in order to get ready for everything and avoiding fighting washroom with Kit.

I am so lazy to study....hopefully my lazy worms will start to die off by the end of this week.

Ryan will be off till the 15th..so i am a little "peaceful" here..hehehe MIL is taking off days this week to watch Ryan for me.
Lucky me!

Anyhow, class will finish at 3 pm tomorrow..but i planned to stay at the library to study for my test and prepare for my up coming classes.

Yea...back to my "second home" routine..hehehe...i cannot study at home due to noises and distractions from tv and ryan playing.

over excited..

I got over excited yesterday about going back to school today plus Ryan's first day of full day at school. I did not sleep for the whole night yesterday. This morning i have to get up at 6 am...boy it was dreadful.
My eyes were hardly open...

I don't know why i am over excited...maybe because i was worried about Ryan's first day at school.
I need to pack 2 snacks and one lunch for him...and have to make sure he can differentiate between the snacks and lunch. Smart thing to do is..(being told by the teacher)..to pack snacks in the paper bag and lunch in the lunch box.

I gave Ryan some baby carrots, cherry tomatoes, and goldfish crackers for his snacks..and peanut butter sandwhich for his lunch...as well as 2 boxes of juices..for his twice snack times.

He made it! He survived the first day..and he made a lot of friends. He ate his snacks and lunch :)
I am a happy camper here :)

As for me...boy i am very overwhelm with my studies stuff.. So stressful as in I have so much to prepare for next week's classes. I need to get all my homework done by sunday. I will be having a math test this wednesday...man i hate new semester..coz they make us review back our medication's dosage calculations..

I hate math!

I will be busy till beginning of December.
It will be an interesting semester this time..due to we get to do Phsychiatric Nursing...which everyone refer it to the darkness of Nursing program.

Shall find out the truth!

Yup the big day has come for my little one... is time for him to go for full day school. Yup he is starting tomorrow ...same day as i have to go for my orientation day.
Ryan and myself visited the school and the class room teacher yesterday. Mrs. F seems very nice and soft spoken type of teacher.
Ryan got excited when he sees the classroom filled with small chairs, tables, computers, kitchen look alike set in the midldle, board filled with alphabets...snack area...and computers.
I was very glad that Ryan is comfortable with his friends and teacher. I am no surprised that Ryan is the tallest among all the kids in his group..coz he is one year late to enroll in Junior Kindy due to he is January baby.

Thank God that he used to the environment due to he was there for the day care. The reason I enrolled him in Catholic school..is because the day care is in the school building. School time will be 9 am till 3.30 pm...but due to we have to go to work and school...we are sending him to before and after day care program.
Kit will be sending Ryan to day care at 7 am..and i will do my best to pick him up at 4 pm.
Poor Ryan has to get up early...it will be tough for everyone at start..but i pray that everyone can get through it easy and everything will go smoothly.

As for me...i am not ready to go back...i don't think my brain is as "sharp" as before...i need to refresh back my nursing skills...jeeze..the injections hahaha..hate that..
i will have to do one special injection called Z track injection... that injection is specially for mental health patients.
Boy..i just have to whoop my but real hard again this time.... back to slaving days again....1 more year to go..man..can't wait till next year...man ..i will be done!

over did it

Ryan has over played for the pass days..he had a blast on Saturday..and on Wednesday he went for a school trip..another full day for him.

Consequences of all those fun- SICK! Yup..he was down with cold yesterday nite and this morning a mild fever.
I was up all night looking after him..poor baby couldn't get any sleep due to stuffy nose. He didn't cry at all..instead forced himself to sleep. Such a good boy i have here..if for me..i definitely throw a fuss already!

He woke in the morning with 37.4 Celsius, a slight fever..i was worried at that time..due to his febrile seizure history. I kept his temp down with ice pack and tylenol fever.
THank God by 10 am..his fever is down..back to normal temp...and he didn't take his nap at all till about 2 pm.

I am like a zombie now..with a headache..my head felt so heavy and i felt like wanna throw up...
I have been feeling like this all day..but i still have to watch Ryan.
I didn't cook dinner for everyone except i cooked porridge for Ryan.
I am not in the position to cook dinner feast for everyone!

I need help myself too..i am waiting for KIt to come home now so that he can take over my place...
I need good nite sleep tonite..badly!

2 more weeks

Time really flies eh... I left 2 more weeks of break then I have to go back to my crazy schedule life.
I really miss my crazy life these 3 months break. My brain getting lazy and rusty too.
I just got some of my books and i started to look at it..boy..i think i am getting very very busy and crazy this coming semester.
I will be dealing Mental Health clients as well as medications field again.
I hope everything goes well.. This time I will not have any Biology stress ...but will have Nursing Professional Ethics stress instead.

What I am going to miss when September comes is Ryan and Kit... I am going miss spending quality time with them..esp my Ryan. Every fun always have to come to an end..
Ryan will be going to Junior Kindy as well...and he is starting full day school every other day too.
Is going to be tough for him..I just pray that he will be alright and able to adjust to the routine.
Importantly, he won't get sick this coming winter time...

Low Iron

My doctor has been telling me that my Iron level is low since April 2008. I tried taking Iron pill but didn't help me much due to it constipate me.
I tried nuts and spinach..but not enough..due to every month when my "aunty" come... i sure loose a lot!

Nowadays..i get tired easily..and at times..i felt like i wanna faint..So, today i started to continue my iron pills..and decided to take every other day to avoid constipation. Hope that helps..

Really... big size like me..still have low iron level..i am surprised here..

Yup i got upgraded from G2 license to G license..wohooooooooooooooooooooooooo! I passed my freeway driving test..FINALLY!

Gosh i was so worried and scared for the whole month..i tell ya! Didn't really had good sleep for weeks.

This day is big for me...as this day is my highway driving test or freeway driving test they call it over here.

9.30 am is my test..and i am very nervous about it. I have not been driving for a year since I got my G2 license last year except for the driving lessons i got recently.
Its been rusty...and plus the test that i failed 3 weeks ago...gave me phobia.

If i fail this time..i have to re-do everything..from writing test to going through G1 again.
I hate the system here...why do they require 2 road driving test!
It is wasting time and money!

I left few weeks of break b4 i go back to school in Sept 5th.
Don't know what to expect here.... more challenging assignments to come...

Beijing 2008 Olympic Games

Today is the open ceremony of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. It started at 7 am over here in Canada Eastern time. Too bad, i only get to watch for about an hour and half due to Ryan wanted to watch his Treehouse program.

Don't get me wrong, Ryan let me watch the open ceremony..but it just that he was so restless and dunno what to do. I felt guilty and not comfortable at all. Is hard to be parent here coz all u think is the best for your child. SO, I finally gave in and let him have his tv programme.

I managed to watch the fireworks ceremony, the dance of paper creation, printing, compass, and history of confucious thingy.

Anyway, is different this time coz normally in Malaysia, i get to watch it during the nite time.
Kit and PIL didn't get to watch at all due to they have to go to work.
I wonder they will air it again?

The Chinese people really did it...it was really grand thing ceremony! Got to give them the credit!

Hey all... yuppers..it's been awhile i updated my blog. I was not busy with work or family or school...but mild depression.

Yea..long story short:-

I quited my job right after 2 weeks i have started. I don't know what i got myself into, depression i guess.
What I was depressed about? Boy, I am still looking for the right answer.

Long story become long story:-

Right before my break starts, I was so eager to look for summer job to help out the family a bit. I even got greedier, I signed up myself summer course at the same time.
Well, got this job with this company A, working as personal support worker, interview was held during May...then got the offer sometime in Victoria day. Did the orientation June 12th.
Started training on June 20th i believed..can't remember..anyway, the company was very unorganized company. I was not given anything ..like employee number( need that to get paid), user name and password to log in to check my client schedules..nothing.
They keep calling me saying that i miss my client ...which I was not aware that I have clients that day (can't check without password and username).
I was so stressed up!
It was my first, and it didn't go well. I was promised with clients living around my neighbourhood or within bus routes.
But they gave me somewhere without bus routes and some i have to transfer 3 busses.
I just can't work like this. I need to know my schedule ahead and plan my day. I have Ryan to take care in the morning..then send him to day care in the afternoon..then go to work..
But it didn't work well.

I was upset because this company wasted my time, i could have look for other jobs. Right now i can't because Summer is almost over.
Instead of earning extra income ...we ended up spending more..coz I have to keep Ryan's day care spot for September.
Right now, mon-fri we send Ryan to day care for $19 bucks/day.

I felt such a loser... and on top of everything..I failed my high-way test...meaning more money to spend.

Sigh, this year is not my year. I was so sad .upset...that i didn't even feel good to do anything.
I was home all day for the past month.

But the only good thing is Ryan is healthy and happy :)
I have re-booked my driving test...Aug 14th...really hope i pass this time.
Too much in my head...i cannot focus rite now..

My weakness, i want everything perfect...if i stumble some mistake...i got weak and lost.
boy..this is bad...when can i accept that nothing is perfect..

Guess what..I just turn 30...heheheh... no more twenties zone...
Yup! getting old...
I felt like i have not accomplish anything in my life yet...other than having myself a family.

I have not been cooking since last September coz MIL took over the cooking...and now I have to do the cooking again, I am totally LOST!
Everyday, i have headache thinking what to cook for lunch and dinner. Boy, is not easy for mothers or fathers..to cook daily.

Crack my head daily..i have to plan my menu for days ahead.. I think it will get worst when i start working..coz i have to cook lunch and dinner at the same time.

Today, I made ribs with bean sauce and ginger, vegetable soup, fried tofu and prawns.
Tomorrow, I am going to bake the whole chicken with BBq sauce, and some vege..will plan tomorrow..

U see, my family they bring home food for lunch.. so i have to cook lunch for Ryan be4 he goes to day care, then bigger portion of dinner for 4 1/2 people and 3 person's lunch tomorrow.
So, u see why i got headache everyday.
Mind you, my MIL is picky too... if u don't cook right, she will be very sarcastic towards the food..say too oily, too salty...too much gravy.

not only i got rusty with the cooking...i got rusty handling the knives ...i have been cutting my fingers lately...u should see i had plaster all my fingers.
i am clumsy...i must say!

I am still waiting to start my job. I went for my paid Orientation last Thursday... and got everything settled. They told me that they will call me today and give me the schedule..and i can start...but ...still no news.

I am nervous here..coz firs time working in community. I told them i can only work from 2 pm onwards tues-fri and weekends all day.
End of June is approaching...and i left about 2 more months to go. I have to go back to school in Sept.
I need to make more money. If school starts, I can only work weekends..maybe only Saturday...coz i know my school work load is crazy.
Rite now my body and brain really getting used to be lazy..hahhaa..getting up at 8.30 am everyday..man..this is luxury eh.
I used to get up at 6 am mon-wed..and 4am thu-fri..... geeze..i am really spoiled here.

Eager to work and at the same time...nervous. Once i am nervous..i feel like wanna go to washroom often...and really often! esp the number 2!
Don't know why..i had this when i was young....

Not Chinese

Last 2 weeks, I had BBQ and I had invited 2 of my classmates as well as my BIL. One of my classmate, G, she is single and one yr younger than my BIL. My intension was to let them get to know each other and hope something great can blossom from there.
Everything went well, and they are interested to proceed further. They have exchanged e-mails and i think hopefully they are going out for the first date this coming Saturday.

The issue here is my MIL not very happy about it. After that day, she did not speak to me for days...till now. She was upset because G is not Chinese. G is Spanish ..but she is very nice, gentle, kind hearted lady. That's why i want to introduce her to my BIL.

MIL's thinking is Chinese is better because can communicate better, and knows how to cook chinese food.
She once introduce my BIL a gal, daughter of her friends's friend...Chinese, but doesn't speak Chinese coz born in Canada and live Canadian lifestyle. so what's the difference?
BIL didn't like her... that was like last year.

And now.. I am trying to help my BIL...he is 28... just wanted him to mix around with more people..that's all.
I am not asking them to get married or something..if great things happened..they want to get married..that's their decision. Is my BIL life..and not hers!

Boyy, mil hated me even more on this eh...i guess i just shoot myself with a gun...hehehehe..
but i don't care..i am doing a great thing here...i didn't force my BIL..i am just letting them to know each other..that's all.

Yup, that's what explain me to someone in my house. NOT GOOD ENOUGH! No matter what I do, say or act ...is not good enough for her.

Sigh..why oh why...I tried...for years now...it doesn't work. My patience ran out... I guess..We will never get along..

After I started school, I thought things are getting better. We talked..but now I am on my break... that someone back to old self. Treating me like I am nobody. Tension is always around between us.
I am to blame when something happen to Ryan...like I am not a good mother. Doesn't know how to feed Ryan good. That someone will utter out words that hurt me so much. Sarcasm is so strong in the air that u could smell it with your stuffy nose.
I dislike when that someone compare me with what that someone can do... I am not that someone.. I have my ways.. I know what my son need...

Kids get sick ...esp when they are in day care. U can't avoid that!!

I just cannot believe that that someone can utter words that is not true about me. Making lies and remarks that is not true.
Her look is filled with hatred!
She never listen properly what I have to say. She twisted my words!

Never good enough! I was refer to as his mother...Ryan's mother! that lady!

This is ridiculous... I know i shouldn't be sad or upset. But I am a type of person who wants a happy family!

Ryan is getting cuter and smarter these days. On Tuesday, we had steamboat for dinner and while we were eating, PIL were talking about their work stuff. All of a sudden, their gentle talks spiral to arguments. PIL are like that, they cannot talk gently to each other. They sure end up with arguments.

While they were arguing, here come our little "middle man" (RYAN) trying to cool off his grandparents.

RYAN: Mou chou la, .... chou chou meh yer? mou chou la...chou dou awe sek yer ar (don't argue la, why you guys want to argue? don't argue la, u r disturbing me eating)

Kit and myself were surprise..in fact, PIL were kinda ashame as they knew they always argue with each other and they had to be stopped by a 4 year old kid.

Whooohooooooo! I got the job! Praise the Lord! They are hiring me... Actually i got this good news on Victoria day! Yup, i was too sick to blog about it.
Well, that lady was kind to call me and let me know ...i appreciate that she call me from her home coz it was a holiday on Monday.

She told me everything went well, i have good references and they are interested to hire me. They will schedule an orientation next week and will let me know when i can start working.
Ya!
But i have to get well very soon! With my condition like this...i don't think my clients will be happy to see me coughing ..hehehehe

I am down with a bad cold

As i have mentioned earlier that I was sick since 3 weeks ago..yea..down with a bad cold. Coughing non-stop with greenish phlegm and sore throat. This virus is bad and strong. I am fighting it with only cough drops and lots of fluids. No anti-biotic for me as is viral infection.

Sigh, I am tired and i sounded like a broken record. Went to a walk-in clinic yesterday because I felt terrible yesterday.
Waited about 1/2 hour then came this young doctor, who didn't even spend 5 minutes checking on me.
What's the matter with today's health care system?
That doctor has bad communication skills with her clients. She treated me as if i am a thing not a person.
U need time to diagnosed the patient...how can u tell what's wrong with your patient if u didn't check them properly?

In Canada, if u want to see your family doctor, u have to like book an appointment. Yup, like me coughing till almost dying, still have to wait for weeks to see my doctor.
Therefor u left with no choice, to go to walk in clinics where u can get those any TOM and Harry kinda of doctor who just got out from practice..didn't know what they are doing.

Unlike in Malaysia, if u r sick, u just go to the 24 hours clinic and get fixed!
U dun have to wait or make appointment.
Sigh... how do we improve our health care system here?

Ontario are suggesting tele-health? using computerized diagnosed system? U think this will work?
Hmmm...will see how...
Nurses and doctors are encouraged to go through computer training courses for future health care system.

what to do?

I feel so lost...don't know what to do here. Remember the interview I had 2 weeks ago? Well, last Tuesday, the lady called me telling me everything seems going great..except they need another reference from somebody else and not my classmate. So i gave Lilian's phone number (my ex-boss where I volunteer b4). Before she hang up, she said..she will call me after that.

I was so happy ...she sounded so positive that i will get the job. So i waited and waited, no call from her till today. I called Lilian and Lilian told me that lady sounded very eager to hire me.

But she didn't call me back! I am left hanging here eh. I gave her a call today to follow-up..and she was not there. I left a message and and she didn't return my call either. Is already 5 pm and this monday is long weekend holiday. :(

I am so frustrated here. I felt like so lousy i cannot get a job...i just dunno what to do at home nowadays. So lazy! My brain is not working.
I miss the library at school! I miss studying. I miss doing homework!

Is hard to get satisfy...clock is ticking... so many things i need to finish. I still have to finish my high school diploma, one more book to do and an exam to write.
I have to get my G2 license before July if not my license will expire :(
With me listing it down..it gives me the shivers eh..
Sigh...
I still need to go to school to practice my skills... mannn... how u people do it?

Doctor Loo

Last Saturday, Kit has to send FIL's car for fixing (muffler problem). It was crappy day due to heavy rain all day. PIL did not work that day. BIL came that day because he has to send his car for fixing too.

About 6 plus in the evening, the mechanic called Kit to pick up the car from the garage. Ryan was fussing to follow his daddy. Kit gave in and let him follow. So there goes the 3 generation of LOOs in the car..

When Kit got back, he was smiling and laughing and he said I have story to tell.
Below are the conversations:

Kit: Hey Hun, u know what happened at the garage ar?

Me: What?

Kit: Ai yo..your son...very funny!

Me: How funny?

Kit: Well, as we arrived at the garage, Ryan came out from the car and went looking around the garage. Dad paid the mechanic and we were all ready to go home. I let Ryan in the car and he started to tell me this:

Ryan: Awe em chung yee kor kor uncle eh.. awe em tong hey say hi (I don't like that uncle... I will not say hi to him)

Kit: Chou meh em chung yee? (Why you don't like that uncle?)

Ryan: Hey pei hak hak, meen hak hak... yucky yucky ar (his nose black black, face black black, yucky yucky ar)

Kit: LOL... hai la..see nei me tok shue la..em tok shue chau hou chee uncle chou mechanic lor ( see, if you don't study hard, u have to be like uncle to become mechanic)

*** No offense to all mechanics, well, mechanics nowadays still have to go to school to get diploma eh..what kit meant was to show Ryan an example..just wanted him to study well or hard and be somebody...(typical chinese thinking)

Ryan: Hai meh? come duk shue dor dor, chou meh yer hou ar? (Really? Then, study a lot, become what that is good?)

Kit: Chou doctor or nurse lor...hou chee mommy..wan dor dor cheen (Become doctor or nurse like mommy...earn lots of money)

4 months break

I have 4 months break b4 i start my crazy schedule again. I am looking for a job now...just to pass time and earn some money and experience.

Just had an interview last Wednesday...for a personal support worker position. I think the interview went okay..no comment..they said they will call me end of next week. Hopefully i will get the job!

We are sending Ryan to day care now..coz MIL are working... Day care has no more full time spaces for Ryan..so only go for 1-3.30 pm mon-friday..but is free..coz of Universal program.
If i get a job..i will extend the hours to 6 pm..and i have to pay 12 bucks/day. I think i can afford that..

Hopefully the job pays good..maybe 13bucks/hr..i dunno..heard abt it..but not sure..coz i am student only..i dun have personal support worker certificate..but i do have the experience..as i have finished 1 year of nursing course.

anyway...HE WILL PROVIDE.. :) i just have to look and seek for opportunity :)

I am back and alive! hahhaha.. well rested, well charged, well restored..but still tired..kekkekeek

2 weeks ago, i finished my semester 2 ..wohooo..officially...I made it! no more bio for next semester!
I can't believe i made it..i managed to go through my bio! What a blessing!

The first week of my break..i just sit around and do nothing..sleep, watch tv..and play with Ryan!
I took Ryan out..for a bus ride...he loves it! We had so much fun...last week, i think almost every day we went out for bus ride...hhhahha..crazy mommy here..
In Hamilton, we had this big long city bus...i thought i let him try it..
We have 2 kinds of city buses, one is regular one and the other is the long and big one.

When we travel to downtown, we took the regular one. HE is already excited with the regular one...

Our conversations:
Ryan: Wah...hou song...hou chor ar (wahh...it feels good...feel nice to ride)

Me: Nice leh.... happy happy mou? (Are you happy?)

Ryan: Nodding his head

Going back from downtown

ME: Yau Zhen, mommy dai nei chor big bus ha... (mommy bring u to ride big bus, okay?)

I am so exhausted and my brain is overloaded now. Is 9.10 pm now and i am still trying to study for my tomorrow's test. I was in the college this morning since 8 am for my 8.30 test....then 3 pm i had one..n stayed in library for more drilling of my brain.

I just cannot wait for this whole thing to be over coz i am really exhausted here.
I am taking my little break here...my eyes like getting blury...my brain couldn't absorb anymore....

Wohoo..one more week, baby! I am counting the days... i am exhausted, gas running low here..but happy that i am almost finishing semester 2!

It has been a hell of journey so far, lotsa work!!

Last week clinial was alrite, THANK GOD! I was assigned with post operative day 1 patient on Thursday. I was freak out on Wednesday already coz she is just came out from oven!
FRAGILE! She had total knee replacement. Everything went well and on thursday, my instructor asked me to take up another patient on friday. So, 2 patients on Friday.
This means, stress level increased even more!

Praise the LORD! without HIM, i don't think i handled thigs so great that day. Everything went well, no complaints from my patients, medications administered correctly and on time even though i have 2 patients. I had a great nurse who incharged for my patients on Friday. Love her coz she taught me a lot!
I didn't get to have my break that day..but it was all worth it coz i learned a lot.

The best part of the day was...hahhaha..(warning-syiok sendiri case here)...as i was signing off my duty and taking elevator back to my locker, the elevator opens and there were like 4 residents or physicians from the surgery floor. They were wearing their scrubs and hat too.. and they were young!
As the door open, one of the physican got so excited seeing me and was like moving towards the front (they were all at the back-end of elevator). One of the physician said to the other "what u doing? Calm down...u r too old for her!" hahahahahha

what la... i am too old for him to be exact..kekekekeke... but i am happy at heart because ppl still think that i am young..hahahaah
(memang la syiok sendiri ni)

Anyway, i am just glad my clinical was great last week and I grateful to the LORD for watching over me.
No more broken bones or anything!

Actually, I wasn't really ready to write my first post. I was vacuuming the house and washed the bathrooms. After that, I changed the motor oil for my car. Felt so tired and wanted to sit down, relax and watch some TV, but thought that I should start my first post since I was already introduced last week.

Well, I'm glad I did it and thanks to me, Gene's account just got another 10 big bucks!! ;)

Winter 2008

This has been one of the worst winter we ever had. We have snow storms one after another and shoveling snow seems like one of the never ending task. In fact, we even have flurries last week even though winter supposed to be ended on March 20.

Driving during snow storm has become of the greatest challenge I have to face in the morning. Yeah, I have to drive for about an hour 10 minutes (one way) to get to work. It is really nerve wrecking and there is one morning on my way to work, I almost lost control of my car and I have to steer my car left and right in order to keep my car on the road. Luckily there isn't any in-coming traffics. Gene said I better get a set of winter tires for next winter and I couldn't agree more.

Well, I hope there won't be any more snow coming (cross my finger) and there isn't any on the forecast this week :) Hopefully, we can really say " Good Bye " to Winter 2008 this time and get on with the spring season.

Post operative care

This rotation I am at the orthopaedic department in one of the Hamilton hospital. Boy i tell ya...this rotation is really challenging and nervewrecking!
My second day was really crazy..I was given a bone cancer diagnosed patient with just 7 days post-operative of her total right elbow replacement.
I have zero experience in taking care of post-op care patients...only books knowledge!

I was giving her a.m. care that morning..and was going to move to her left side to wash her back...a loud crack was heard! Omigosh..she had a fractured and i was freak out and just don't know what else to do. I called for help and i tell ya.. that day it was a hell of experience!

On top of everything, i have to give my patient medication, and taking blood pressure on her fractured arm... how challenging was that?

The whole day i felt so lousy and Thank God for my lecturer... she helped me alot!

I seriously don't like surgical floors as they are so fragile!

I prefer mental health patients better...maybe because i am one of them too..hahaahahah
Shall see which area i will be going into... :)

I am so sick of this subject Health and Healing..is driving me nuts as we have exam every weeks. It is so annoying!
Exam plus assignments every week! They really thought that we students are robot.

Isn't it weird that we are learning on how to take good care of people by affecting our health in terms of ..no sleep, no rest, no proper meals and time.
It sucks!

I have 2 exams this week..tomorrow and wednesday..and i am not prepared for it!
I am so immuned with it already..coz i am just sick of it! u know the feeling of nauseated from something?

Oh my! I want to apologize for this late wishes. I hope everyone had a great CNY..year of Rat.
Oh boy, i have so much to update and i have no idea where to start..hehehe

Well, let see, I managed to finished first rotation of my second semester and actually on my study week break. Today is my last day of break. To tell you the truth, i did not break at all..i have been going to college to study since Monday till Thursday. Today i decided to take a day off plus i have to go for an ultrasound.
Will take this golden opportunity to update my blog plus make some money..kekekeke.

All my exams went pretty well. So much better compared to last semester. I started to get a better understanding on Biology (not a biology genius here). In fact, i am very proud of myself here coz i managed to get 85 for my bio..(last semester only managed to get 66)
I am happy that my studies went well.. been working hard..missing a lot of time with Ryan.
I was thinking..if i am sacrificing my time with Ryan..i better make the best out of it.
I have been staying late in the library till 9.30 pm daily. Start class at 8 am....i went out when is dark..came back also dark..
I am exhausted but is all worth it after i see my results.
I am very grateful to MIL for taking care Ryan for me. That i have to give her a lot of credits for!

Last rotation i was doing medication-giving meds, insulin injection, eye drops, ear drops, and learn a lot of diseases. Boy..it is sad and scary!

Next week, second rotation, we will be doing wound care and I will be having my clinical placement at Henderson Hospital! Wohooooooooooooooooooo! i can't wait.. if i am lucky..i get to experience one of the surgery!
Will be at the orthopedics department.. with hip fractured ,knee replacement and all kinds.
I just love wound care!
My second semester will end after april 20th..still long way to go..

Then come summer, will get a job as personal support worker...it pays 15 bucks an hour! wohooooooooooooooooooooo! is abt time for me to bring back the BAA CONN!

where should i start leh... well, i am like super busy till i don't have time to even sleep. Second semester is like fast forward semester..they rush us like crazy..today we go for class for theory...the next day we practice in clinical!
We are dealing with medications and injections.. ai yo... i super worried...that i made mistake...i am not scared of the needle..i just scared that i hurt my patient..hahaahah...
On top of everything...i have other classes to attend...and exam, assignment all due same day.
Day and nite i have been studying non-stop. Dream also dream about school work.

I have neglected my family...esp Ryan...i have not been spending time with him lately..and am grateful for MIL as she take care of him for me.
I just cannot wait for this semester to over and summer time ..so that i can work a little bit and spend time with Ryan. I need to catch up all the lost time i missed with him.

second winter storm

Originally, I wanted to put on new Christmas table cloth but..we are not having dinner at home on Christmas coz BIL in Mississauga is making the turkey. So, I decided not to put it and leave it the same and start on my assignments.
